The Effect of the Time of The Opening Goal in the First Half in The Premier League 2016-2017

Posted on: November 28th, 2016 by Jonny Grossmark

In the table below I have added all the games this season in the Premier League where the home team opened the scoring ( H ) or the away team opened the scoring ( A) in the first half with the final score shown as well in each one minute time band .
The last figure in the column shows the average goals per game in that one minute time band.
In the table below there are 90 opening goals logged ( 50 games where the home team opened the scoring , and 40 games where the away team opened the scoring , and the home teams <> 38-6-6 ( home teams won 76% ) and the away teams <> 23-11-6 ( away teams won 57.5% )

62/90 ( 69% ) ended over 2.5 goals
