No better moment for a goal than just before half-time in the Premier League ?

Posted on: January 5th, 2017 by Jonny Grossmark

In the table below I have added the last 30 games in the Premier League where the home team opened the scoring on 45 minutes and the half time game state was 1-0 ;

GAME PATHWAY

7/30 1-0 FT

> 2-0 14/30 <> 14-0-0

> 1-1 9/30 <> 4-2-3

25-2-3 > the home teams won 83% = 1/5 < at HT Spurs were offered at 4/9

The away teams in the second half failed to score in 70%

Summary:
Research shows that a goal scored in football just before half-time does not have any statistically significant effect on the chances of winning.
